Michelle M. Barwell, MD, graduated magna cum laude with Distinction in Psychology from Duke University. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Pittsburgh, where she was awarded the Richard L Cohen, MD, Award for Excellence in Child Psychiatry. She completed her residency in adult psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Barwell has experience working in many diverse settings, including inpatient, outpatient, community clinics for the unhoused and uninsured, and direct street outreach. Currently, she treats teenagers and adults, blending medication management with psychotherapy tailored to each patient’s unique needs. She believes that providing good care starts with having a strong, collaborative relationship with her patients. She knows that patients do best when they are educated about their illnesses and treatment options and can partner with physicians to determine the best course of treatment. Dr. Barwell is thrilled to offer patients the option of TMS Therapy in addition to medication and psychotherapy.
